In the EU 1.5° Lifestyles project we are inviting everyone to start changing their lifestyle so that we all become agents of change for 1.5° living. In order to support this change, among other things, we have announced a challenges campaign between October 2024 and February 2025 in seven languages in our five case countries (Germany, Hungary, Latvia, Spain and Sweden), Finland as well as at the EU / international level in English. With the challenges, our aim is to inform, inspire and give practical tips on how to change.
The campaign is built up of altogether four challenges. The first focuses on car-free everyday mobility during October-November 2024. We are asking everyone to #movecarfree as much as possible because lifestyle changes related to how we move around are among the most effective ways to reduce our climate impact. If we own or use a car for our daily mobility, giving it up in favour of walking, cycling or public transport is one of the most effective decisions we can make in our everyday lives.
In the second challenge, in December 2024 we will be inviting everyone to find out how to celebrate a #onepointfiveholiday with lower carbon footprint. Then, in the third challenge, in January 2025, we will be asking participants to go #plantbasednowaste as much as possible. In other words, try following a plant-based diet and reduce food waste. In the final challenge, in February 2025, we will be urging everyone to calculate their carbon footprint and find out what their most important lifestyle impacts are towards reaching #onepointfivefootprint.
The campaign can be followed on various social media pages, where we are also encouraging everyone to contribute comments, success stories, experience with and challenges in implementation, etc. It is also possible to submit stories and pictures to us through a dedicated page, in all seven languages.
