On 1 July, the RIFS Potsdam team, in cooperation with the Brandenburg Sustainability Platform, organised an interactive workshop at the Griebnitzsee Primary School in Potsdam.
Pupils from the third to the sixth grade engaged with the Climate Puzzle of the EU 1.5° Lifestyle project, developed by consortium partner D-Mat. The puzzle helped students understand how low-carbon lifestyle options in four key consumption areas - food, mobility, housing and leisure - can be integrated into their daily lives by 2030. They also discussed why some options might not be feasible or convenient to incorporate into daily practices.
The workshop, coordinated by Ira Matuschke and supported by the RIFS Potsdam team (including Matthias Tang and Paula Berendt), was met with enthusiasm, especially from the third grade class, who showed a high level of activity and engagement.
As Ira explained, ”The students were enthusiastic to play the game and had a very good understanding of how to reduce their CO2 footprint. They also came up with additional ideas on how they could reduce the footprint of the school itself.”
This initiative is part of ongoing efforts to promote low-carbon practices and engage with citizens (and the younger generation!) around sustainability transformations and are shared responsibility for change.
Stay tuned for more information on our future workshops and activities.
