The University of Münster is a university in Germany, with encompassing experience in research, teaching and consultancy and a student body of >40.000 graduate and undergraduate students. The university’s Institute of Political Science, in particular, has far-reaching expertise in leading and participating in international, inter- and transdisciplinary research projects. At the University of Münster, research, teaching and transfer activities on sustainable development are located at the Centre for Interdisciplinary Sustainability Research (ZIN), which integrates the sustainability expertise from numerous disciplines from the natural and social sciences as well as humanities. The scholars collaborating in the ZIN conduct research on a broad range of aspects of sustainable development, regularly communicate on sustainability challenges and strategies with stakeholders from politics, business and civil society at all levels of governance, and teach on sustainability across study programs, including international and interdisciplinary ones.
The University of Münster acts as the consortium leader of the 1.5° Lifestyles project and is responsible for coordinating the research activities between partners and work packages (WPs), and for fostering integration and synthesis. In terms of specific research tasks, the University of Münster leads WP3, which analyses structural enablers, constraints and policy levers for lifestyle shifts, and coordinates its implementation in the five case countries. It also co-leads the communications and diffusion of research results to stakeholders in WP6 and overall project management in WP7.
